First Public Breastfeeding Photo

And so, the mission begins!

Pearl had to have her third set of immunisations today. I never look forward to those things; I know it's for the best but seeing my usually quiet and content little baby screaming with tears running down her cheeks is just horrible. I'm sure other mothers agree!

The best way to pacify her afterwards is to breastfeed, and there's absolutely no way I'm going to wait until we get home - I'm not letting her scream and continue to be upset while I put her in the car seat and make the journey. So I breastfed in the waiting room at the doctor's surgery. Soon my little one was feeling sleepy and so far, two hours after her jabs, she has been fine. Let's hope it lasts the rest of the day, as my sister-in-law tells me that these four-month immunisations are the worst!

  2. Breast feeding is a beautiful thing to see! It is shameful that .anyone should ever be made to feel embarrassed or uncomfortable for doing it in public! Keep up the good work Clairey! Xxx

  4. I know your post is about breastfeeding but I could not help but comment on the immunization part. you know.. they say to go with your gut and personally why would we intentionally make our babies cry? Check out this page about immunizations ( and why its so important NOT to get them) its a great source for natural information as well :) You can find it on Face Book under Great Mothers Questioning Vaccines. Way to go on BFing in public !! I want to take a pic sitting outside of Victoria's Secret under their half naked ads :)

  5. I second what Ashley Wyatt says about not "immunizing." It is definitely a topic worth researching. And since your beautiful baby daughter is breastfed, she is already so healthy and has built up a good immunity against those illnesses. Breast milk is so powerful! Babies don't need all those toxins and harmful ingredients to be healthy. Mommas milk is perfect. Here is a good read on vaccines:

  7. Breastfeeding babies WHILE they are actually getting the shot can sometimes distract them enough so that they don't even feel it or cry and it helps to relax you too in a highly stressful situation. I chose not to immunize on the recommended schedule, too. Instead I practiced child led weaning and all went well but it is not for everyone. Keep up the public breastfeeding. You are not only taking great care of your baby and yourself but providing a fantastic model for future nursing mothers!
